NET-PD was a large multi-faceted effort to find drugs to slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease. The first studies were testing several compounds; some of which were later evaluated in larger clinical trials. Like all U.S. clinical trials, NET-PD was carefully designed to answer questions about new drugs while safeguarding the health of volunteers.
How was NET-PD different from other studies?
Most PD treatment clinical trials focus on treating the symptoms of the disease. NET-PD evaluated agents that have the potential to slow the progression of PD.
